All who love American Fork Canyon have a vested interest in seeing the watershed as pristine as possible. The most problematic areas with heavy metals have been reviewed by the EPA and clean up orders issued. Snowbird Ski Resort has provided an update which is a good starting point. Tibble Fork continues to accumulate heavy metals bonded to sediment and the State of Utah Division of Water Quality has not yet set a standard  nor placed signage that arsenic and other heavy metals continue to build up in the reservoir.

The State of Utah needs to identify best practices for removal of the heavy metals and to stop them at sources upstream. We encourage elected officials, the forest service and the resort to effectively outline plans to mitigate downstream potential harm to the public and to recreational users.

This is a good starting point. Thank you Snowbird.
