Learn about where the PUBLIC HEALTH HAZARDS are in the canyon.
Eliminate the upstream hazard to the watershed, eliminate the hazard to the public. That should be the desired outcome of all state, local officials as well as the private landowner. Traditional resort expansion in this area could trigger a full EPA Clean Up / Removal Action given the concentrations of heavy metals. The delicate ecosystem is more conducive to other uses and non-traditional resort expansion.

1764 times the RSL (Residential Screening Level) for Arsenic at the Live Yankee Mine, 80 times the RSL (Residential Screening Level) for lead.

In reviewing the EPA document, there are incredibly high levels of Antimony, Arsenic and Lead at the Globe and Yankee Mines.

The Globe Mine area is particularly challenging as it’s heavy metals and mine waste straddle the sides of a steep gully – where a stream flows and high water runoff is an annual event.
