THE EXCHANGE OF CANYON RELATED INFORMATION IS VITAL TO PROTECT AND PRESERVE THE HISTORIC ACCESS AND RECREATIONAL OPPORTUNITIES IN THE CANYON.

American Fork Canyon Alliance (AFCA) is a 501c3 non-profit organization that facilitates courteous multi-user group interactions and best practices
in American Fork Canyon and the Uinta National Forest. AFCA owns land in Upper American Fork Canyon between Mary Ellen Gulch and Mineral Basin.
We lease our AFCA land to organized clubs and members of the community in an effort to protect access to historically used lands by the public.

Our mission is to preserve historic canyon access and recreational opportunities for the public, while encouraging local, state, federal officials to protect the natural resources in American Fork Canyon. (The canyon has historic mining related challenges which pollute our watershed. We will encourage those in positions of leadership to clean up and protect the water resources.)

How do we accomplish our mission?
Principally we sell landleases to the public to help fund our efforts. These landlease help to protect historic access in Upper American Fork. Click here to purchase.

We organize and fund service projects for the benefit of the general public. We work with other like minded clubs, non-profits and/or government entities to help protect this finite resource. We believe education is a key component for courteous multi-user group interactions, service project collaboration and to determine best recreational, management and access practices in American Fork Canyon.

Goals/Vision

    • To enhance and maintain the publics natural experience in the Canyon.
    • To influence responsible agencies to accurately survey and map the canyon and all privately held property. To identify public lands for continued recreation and public access.
    • To promote and encourage low impact recreation opportunities.
    • To encourage the protection of the visual aesthetics of the canyon and viewshed.
    • To encourage the cleaning up of old abandoned mines that pollute our watershed.
    • To organize and/or sponsor meaningful service projects, educational workshops and historic tours to preserve canyon history and to help bridge canyon user groups and community understanding for positive outcomes.
    • To leave the canyon better than we found it for the rising generation.
We work with other like minded non-profits and organizations including the Forest Service and other government agencies and local elected leaders to accomplish our charitable purposes. We believe that there is strength in numbers and will work to aggregate other like minded user groups, clubs, individuals where our umbrella organization can help foster information sharing and collaboration in American Fork Canyon and related issues.
